Lundi 5 mars 2007

Alice Ritter my childhood friend moved to New York 10 years ago to follow her now husband. Her story is a real American story.

She bought her first sewing machine 9 years ago and decided to follow her dream of becoming a fashion designer. She took night classes to learn sketching, tore appart vintage clothes to learn pattern-making and read as much as she could about fashion. She was soon making one of a kind handmade and homemade pieces for a Brooklyn base boutique which sold out within weeks of arrival.

Her Spring/Summer 07 collection for UPS - Delivering fashion's future in september 2006 was a great success which saw her outpout grow three and a half time. She know sells all over the world.

Alice is currently ascending up the fashion industry ladder, known as New York best kept secret, she is the epitome of what it means to follow your passion.

You can see her new Fall 07 collection and more by loggin on www.aliceritter.com

Below some reviews on her Fall collection:

"February 2, 2007 -- For a relative newcomer, Ritter exercised polish and sophistication at her show at Gramercy's Players Club. The intricate pleats, folds and careful manipulation of her fabrics would have made Tim Gunn proud (while a pair of silk ruffled knickers would have sent Michael Kors screaming about an overcrowded harem). Still, when Ritter stuck to her mainstay, dresses, she wowed the crowd, incorporating fanciful details like an Edwardian-style collar and demure pockets. The rich jewel-toned palette was offset by the season's seemingly immortal look: opaque black tights."
New York Post - Fashion Week

"Alice Ritter, one of our favorite up-and-coming designers. Her collection is already way popular with fashion insiders. That’s not so surprising considering Ritter hasn’t yet appreciated to couture value. Amenities — er, styles — include cropped ruffles (bolero coats), balloon sleeves (tops), collegiate pins (blazers), and tartans with snaps (school skirts). So on point with fall and winter trends, this stuff is as hot as a 3BR w/ W/D & pvt rftp."
Daily Candy - New York Edition

"Showing fitted, cropped Edwardian-style jackets, gathered and flounced button-front shirts, and jumper-style dresses in focused patterns with cinched bottoms, Alice Ritter sent out a sweet darling of a collection that made it easy to see why she’s become a fashion insider’s favorite. With models clad in thick, plush leggings, Ritter made use of accordion pleats on almost every sort of garment she showed, from an eggplant-hued, bow-bedecked boatneck dress to a simple silver silk chemise top gathered at the butterfly-style sleeves. Ritter’s got a knack for producing polished pieces that work well together or worn as separates, so much so that the voluminous ruffled blouse tucked under a classic black tailcoat could just as well have stood on its own."
